I really like this sprouter. As long as you change the water twice a day you won't get mold. If the sprinkler won't sprinkle, you need to make sure the sprinkler thingy is pushed all the way down into the unit. I have experienced no problems with this unit at all and as i said, I really like it. A vegetable brush gets any stuck seeds out of the tray, too (to answer another reviewer's complaint), If i had to list a complaint, it would be that its a very large appliance and i have very little counter space.
