User friendly and well-priced November 4, 2002
Reviewer: Randy from Central CaliforniaBack to Basics juicers are not commerical-quality, but they are excellent for most household uses. Most of those who have had problems with them I am sure were using an excessive amount of frozen items. To avoid burning up the unit, limit the use of frozen items (fruit, vegetables, ice) to no more than 1/2 of the solid product. Put non-frozen items in first , then the frozen items, then liquids. Let it stand a minute or more so the frozen items thaw out some, then use the Pulse button several times to chop up the frozen items before blending. Following these guidelines yields consistently enjoyable and easy-to-serve smoothies. I love these units because the serving spout allows my children to refill their containers without having to lift a large heavy pitcher.
