Anticipate problems October 9, 2001
Reviewer: Tex from Lonestar stateFirst Waterwise 4000 was DOA. Second was returned after quickly developing a burn ring around inner top of tank. Third stopped working after about a year - would cut off while beginning to heat up. Waterwise technician explained problem as function of thermostat, fuse assembly, and thermal compound. Purchased replacement parts. After four months, distiller is cutting off again. Also, this distiller almost immediately developed small rust spots at three points in bottom of tank where underside is electro-welded. Additionally, according to Waterwise, there should be a few ounces of water left in the tank at the end of the distillation cycle, but actually it ends up pretty near bone-dry. Average use has been one gallon per day. Given the distiller's apparent technical design problems and short life span, its hardly worth the price. Waterwise could be given an "A" for service, but the distiller gets an "F".
