I have heard that the champion has a tendency to get heated up with can ruin some of the health benefits of fresh juice?

Yes, the champion juicer works on the mastication process, which causes some friction. The housing of the champion may get warm to the touch in some instances. (This especially happens when you are using a DULL BLADE or juicing A LARGE quantity at once). I believe we were the first retailer on the web to advertise the champion to cause some heating. While the heating is very minor (ie: a little warmer), its by no means "cooking" your juice). While we have not done any testing on this issue, It is our opinion, the heat will NOT HAVE A SIGNIFICANT impact on the health benefits of the juice. It may slightly affect the quality of the juice if the temperature gets too, too hot, and start to degrade the enzymes. To lessen the effects of the friction/heat, we suggest a few things:
1. SLOW DOWN- take your time when juicing. If juicing too fast, it will cause excess friction/heat.
2. CHILL PRODUCE- start with COLD produce, right out of the fridge.
3.ADD ICE- if you believe its getting to hot, just drop an ice cube in the chute, and juice it along with your vegetables, this will add some water to the juice, and will help cool the machine.
4.REST THE MACHINE- if juicing a large quantity, do it in two sessions, with a "break" to give the machine a time to "cool off" in between.
Despite the above shortcoming, which we believe to be minor, The champion is a good, dependable juicer, if it suits your purpose. In our opinion, the Champion Commercial Juicer may be less prone to heating the juice, due to the more powerful motor.
